McDonald Siniard knew something was wrong. "I felt like my heart was all over my chest, just trying to function. It was working too hard and skipping beats all the time," he says.
A catheterization revealed that McDonald’s heart was only working at about 10-15% capacity because of atrial fibrillation. Dr. Omeni Osian, a cardiothoracic surgeon and Dr. Paul Urban, a clinical and interventional cardiologist at Ocala Regional Medical Center performed surgery on McDonald. Now, his heart no longer skip beats and is running at nearly 100%.
"Both Dr. Paul Urban and Dr. Osian were great," says McDonald’s wife, Lovella. "The surgery took place on the day of our anniversary and I told them that since we were married at 5:30 pm, we always make it a point to kiss at that time on our anniversary and I wasn’t about to miss it this year." Like McDonald’s heart, it’s a tradition that lives on.
