On December 13, 2016, Margaret Schaab experienced chest pain and shortness of breath. She called 9-1-1 and was taken to Poinciana Medical Center where Nurse Leader Padma Lilia helped provide life-saving care.
Nurse Lilia, working with Dr. Christopher Scott, immediately recognized Margaret was in respiratory failure with an unusually high potassium reading.
Dr. Scott intubated Margaret and administered cardiac protective medications to keep her heart from failing.
“The facility is gorgeous, but the heart of any hospital are its doctors and staff and Poinciana Medical Center’s are wonderful,” said Margaret. “I can’t thank them enough.”
During her stay, Margaret received care in Poinciana Medical Center’s Emergency Room, Intensive Care Unit and Progressive Care Unit. According to Margaret, there was one consistent theme in each area: Exceptional patient care.
Nurse Leader Lilia recognizes her team’s commitment to excellence. “I take great pride in working with these doctors. They are kind, caring and well-educated.”
