Gulf Coast Regional Patient Mayor Van Johnson

A mayor’s heart voted him out.
We helped him win a new term.

Mayor Van W. Johnson, Sr.

Mayor Van W. Johnson, Sr. has been married for thirty-six years and has five adult children and seven grandchildren. He’s also the mayor of Apalachicola.

But during a meeting, he began to sweat profusely and his heart started to race as if he had just run a marathon. After a call to 9-1-1, he arrived at Gulf Coast Regional Medical Center in Panama City where Dr. Francis K. Le performed a cardiac catheterization and discovered a 90 to 100 percent blockage in Van’s right coronary artery. A stent was inserted and Van’s health began to instantly improve.

Now, he has undertaken a healthy living regimen, including diet and exercise. He’s lost over one hundred pounds and feels great.

“I have a renewed sense of purpose and a deep gratitude for Dr. Le. He saved my life,” Van says.

At HCA North Florida, we partner with physicians so they can do what they do best; provide first-rate cardiac care by utilizing state-of-the-art technology, first-class facilities and world-class physicians.
